Chinese courts conclude 23.51 mln cases from January to September

BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese courts concluded 23.51 million cases in the first nine months of 2023, 6.67 percent more than in the same period of 2022, the country\’s top court said on Tuesday.

Courts nationwide accepted a total of 25.79 million cases from January to September, a 9.12 percent increase from the previous year, according to the Supreme People\’s Court (SPC).

The courts mediated 11.83 million cases prior to litigation procedures from January to September, 26.58 percent more than in 2022, with 7.82 million of those cases resolved before litigation, according to the SPC.

It also noted that more cases related to intellectual property rights (IPR) were accepted by courts during the period, with a total of 371,000 first-instance IPR cases accepted, an increase of 1.61 percent from the previous year.

Among these cases, patent contract dispute cases and patent right ownership and infringement dispute cases accepted in the nine months increased by 42 percent and 27 percent, respectively, from the previous year.
