PORT MORESBY, April 20 (Xinhua) — The South Pacific region should not become an arena for major power rivalry, said visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi here on Saturday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with his Papua New Guinea counterpart Justin Tkatchenko.
No country should regard any island country in the region as its \”backyard,\” Wang added.
